Sagent's complete business intelligence platform to boost productivity and cut IT costs for the entire US Army

Sagent, a leading provider of enterprise business intelligence solutions, today announced that the Army's CECOM Software Engineering Centre – Meade (SEC-M) has expanded its enterprise licence for Sagent's business intelligence platform, making it possible for the entire US Army to realise significant productivity and efficiency gains through the utilisation of the Financial Management Information System (FMIS), a Web-based tool built on the Sagent data integration platform.

Several departments of the US Army implemented FMIS/Sagent in 1998 for ETL (extraction, transformation and loading), data analysis and management reporting of disparate agency data. The integrated analytical solutions for the Army's financial, personnel and payroll systems were so successful that the US Army recently expanded the licence and is offering FMIS/Sagent to all departments within the US Army.

"By using Sagent's BI platform, we've seen instances where analyses that used to require numerous data calls and days of consolidation, can now be accomplished in a matter of minutes or hours," said Juanita Galbreath, US Army FMIS Project Lead. "This translates into significant savings of both time and operational costs, hence the decision to purchase an expanded licence that will make the FMIS tool available to every MACOM and Installation in the US Army."

Sagent has worked closely to partner with the US Army and other government agencies to create custom solutions that allow for aggressive implementation schedules and an attractive timeline for return on investment. Sagent's BI solutions for government agencies can support thousands of concurrent users.

"Sagent has been a trusted supplier to several departments of the US Army for several years and we're proud to see that the efficient solution we've developed for FMIS is now available to boost productivity for the entire agency," said Dave Henry, VP of Marketing at Sagent.

Susan Andre, Managing Director of Sagent Southern Africa, notes that the full Sagent Solution as implemented for the US Army is available to local companies. "Our global experience in implementing enterprise information integration [EII] and business intelligence [BI] solutions gives us a pool of knowledge that is shared and utilised worldwide."

Sagent provides business users with a complete EII and BI platform plus a lifecycle methodology that simplifies the steps to business insight, minimises project costs and risks, and creates new opportunities for rapid business analysis.

US Army Financial Management Information System (FMIS)

FMIS is an integrated data mining "tool" that enables DoD organisations to rapidly compile operational data from their disparate internal legacy financial, acquisition, logistics, personnel and payroll data sources and automatically deliver that consolidated information to Commanders, managers and resource analysts via the Web. FMIS reduces Commanders and managers dependency on functional experts to interpret data, as they can instantly obtain accurate, up-to-date "English text" data via the Web. FMIS provides a consolidated view of DoD's most current operational data and facilitates information sharing and collaboration resulting in smarter mission-critical decisions. http://www.secm.army.mil
